Together with The Carbon Neutral Company®, Eden Springs will be supporting a new carbon offset project which aligns with our ‘Every Drop Counts’ commitment to support sustainable water and community development projects.
Boreholes can be used as water wells by installing a vertical pipe casing and well screen which allows water to be extracted from the ground.
They are designed to last for up to 20-50 years. Women and children are impacted most strongly, as they can spend hours collecting and purifying water each day.
The project is estimated to impact 3,000 children, 5,700 adults, reducing the incidence of almost 100 cases of diarrhoea and 6 fatalities per year. By providing clean water, communities no longer need to purify water through boiling.
This alleviates pressure on local forests – the predominant source of firewood – and reduces greenhouse gas emissions.
