OFFICE COFFEE MACHINE OF THE WEEK – VITRO ESPRESSO

Coffee Machine of the week

Presenting the Vitro Espresso – Bean to Cup Machine

I’ve chosen the Vitro Espresso as our bean to cup office coffee machine of the week because of its contemporary good looks, ease of functionality and the great tasting coffee it produces.

Easy to use coffee selector

With its “ipad” style “in-touch” drinks selection system the Vitro Espresso instantly reaches out to customers and staff, providing them with 10 drinks variations, including Cappuccino, Espresso, Latte, Hot Chocolate and Hot Water for Tea, all at the tap of the screen.

Vitro Espresso Bean to Cup

Vitro Espresso Bean to Cup

High capacity bean hopper

The Vitro Espresso features one high capacity bean hopper (1100g) and 3 removable soluble product containers. These would normally be used for offering an instant decaff coffee option, hot chocolate ingredients and instant milk.

Vitro Espresso

The perfect Espresso

Its 9bar brewing mechanism provides ample pressure to produce an authentic espresso, with a great taste and a perfect crema.

This machine is designed to be plumbed in and will deliver around 250 drinks a day. To increase autonomy a waste solution can be added which allows the coffee grinds to fall directly into an under cabinet bin, rather than the traditional grout tray.

Easy to clean and economical to use

The cleaning cycle is straightforward and easy to manage and with its low power LED lighting, advanced power saving mode and paperless brewing system it is also an economical and environmentally friendly machine – in fact 90% of its components are recyclable.

Accessories available for the Vitro Espresso include a base cabinet, universal cabinet, cup warmer and a coin/token validator.

Office Coffee Machine – Melitta Bar Cube

Melitta Bar-Cube – Your Office Friend

The Melitta Bar-Cube will be your office friend. Its high capacity bean hoppers will deliver around 80 – 150 drinks per day and we’ve found few machines that can rival the Melitta Bar-Cube for its all-round reliability, functionality and consistency of drink production.

Simple to operate, easy to clean – extremely professional!

Office coffee machines need to be simple to use, easy to clean and of course deliver a high quality, café style coffee. It should be able to provide the maximum amount of drinks with the minimum amount of management.

Cappuccino

Produces an Authentic Espresso

To produce an authentic café speciality (such as a cappuccino) you really need a coffee machine that has a boiler with 15 bar pressure capability. This allows the coffee to be extracted correctly and the end result should be a perfect espresso. Note: a correctly brewed espresso shot has a luxurious caramel looking crema.

Micro-Filmed Milk – the perfect Cappucino topping

You then need a coffee machine with the capability to create micro-foamed milk. This can be delivered with instant milk coffee machines, but the purest in me prefers full fat, fresh milk. The Melitta Bar-Cube only uses fresh milk and you don’t need an engineering degree to operate it.

The FLAVIA C500 is a versatile machine. Not many hot drinks brewers in the office can provide you with fresh filtered coffee, fresh black leaf tea, herbal teas, hot chocolate and of course a range of delicious tasting café specialities such as cappuccinos and mochas

You can place the FLAVIA anywhere with a plug socket. It has its own water reservoir which can be manually filled or if your office is busy and you have mains water nearby, it can be plumbed in for hassle free dispensing. FLAVIA C500 on Base Cabinet with Merchandiser

FLAVIA C500 on Base Cabinet with Merchandiser

MORE ECONOMICAL AND PROFESSIONAL THAN A KETTLE

It’s more economical than a kettle and let’s face it much tidier and professional. Unlike kettles that are often filled to capacity and boiled for one cup of coffee, the FLAVIA will only boil one cups worth of water at a time

FRESH INGREDIENTS | NO CONTAMINATION & EASY TO USE

The FLAVIA uses Freshpacks (similar to capsules). This means that all the ingredients are self-contained. The strength of your drink is always consistent and no matter which drink you brew, one after the other, you will not get any cross-contamination, mess or wastage

POPULAR BRANDS SERVED HERE

Known brands served here. The FLAVIA C500 drinks range includes Yorkshire Tea, Taylors Coffee and Galaxy hot chocolate…

INTERNATIONAL COFFEE DAY – 1st OCTOBER 2016

Posted in Office Motivation on by .

International Coffee Day

International Coffee Day

International Coffee Day – View our infographic here…

What is it and when is it?

International Coffee Day will take place on the 1st October and celebrates everything coffee. Not many beverages are celebrated on a national level but it would seem coffee really is that popular. If like millions of others in the UK you are involved in a love affair with a cup of dark frothy goodness, the 1st October may already be scribbled in your diary – and lucky enough it falls on a weekend this year!

In March 2014, 74 INTERNATIONAL COFFEE ORGANISATION (77 in 2016) member states and 26 sanctioned coffee associations from all over the world teamed up to make the 1st of October 2015 the first ever coffee global event. Forming International Coffee Day to establish a date of celebration for coffee lovers across the planet.

The day is centred on the awareness of fair trade coffee production, the promotion of green processes and the hard work of the coffee growers. The 1st is focused on the celebration of diversity, quality and passion and world-wide individuals and business are taking part. It is an opportunity for millions of people to support the farmers who livelihood wholly depends on that delicious brown bean that so many of us enjoy every day.

How can you get involved?

That popular aromatic crop is causing a stir this October and many individuals and companies are enthusiastic to get involved. From celebrating on your own with your favourite coffee blend to reaching out to others, there are numerous creative ways in which you can get involved this coming International Coffee Day.

‘Caffé Sospeso’

Follow the Naples tradition of ‘caffè sospeso’ (pending coffee), an Italian tradition of paying for an additional coffee, but only consuming one.

According to the ICO the event will ‘give coffee lovers around the world an opportunity to show solidarity with smallholder coffee farmers by donating the value of an additional cup of coffee to charity.

Treat a stranger to a coffee

The smallest gestures can really make big difference to someone’s day. In some countries, individuals celebrate the day by simply treating the thirsty stranger luckily standing behind them. Any easy way to brighten up someone’s day, and celebrate the delicious hot beverage. Why not inspire kindness in your nearest coffee house this autumn?

Throw a coffee morning

Of course there are ways in which you can celebrate coffee throughout the year. We enjoy a hot frothy coffee all year round, and there are many ways to be charitable all through the seasons. Coffee mornings are proving a popular way to raise money for different charities, most notably MACMILLAN . THE EDEN KAFEVEND COFFEE MORNING PACK can even provide you with all the coffee and tea you need free of charge. That leaves you in charge of simply providing cakes, and collecting the money.

Celebrate wherever you are..

View World events here:

In the past national coffee days have been celebrated by companies as well. This year, watch out for offers from your favourite brands. Traditionally brands such as Ikea and Starbucks have put on promotions in celebration of the event such as discounted coffees. Keep an eye out on social media for offers as well to keep up with everything coffee.

7 USEFUL (2)

7 Useful Tools For Monitoring Hydration – We’ve taken a look through the internet and have found some excellent tools to help you monitor your hydration levels throughout the day. Each one is designed to help keep you healthy, happy and productive.

Our mobile devices are less and less being used as phones, they have turned into our PA’s our child minders and even our fitness trainers. With so many apps out there we’ve picked a few to help maintain your hydration levels, some functional and some fun!

Water Logged Hydration App

Waterlogged hydration App

  • Waterlogged

Every 6 seconds, someone around the world is using the Waterlogged application to track & improve their daily water intake. This APP works with Fitbit & by using photos of your favourite containers you can spend less than 60 seconds a day tracking your water intake.

Plant Nanny App

Plant nanny water application

  • Plant Nanny

Plant Nanny combines health with fun to remind you to drink water regularly. The cute plant keeps you company every day by living in your phone. Mutually beneficial and very motivating!

Daily Water Free Application

Daily Water Free Application

  • Daily Water Free

So, as we know water plays a very important role in our body, it transports nutrients and oxygen into cells, regulates body temperature, helps with metabolism and so on, drinking enough water can help us lose weight, look younger with healthier skin, less likely to get sick, helps in digestion and constipation, relieves fatigue, have a good mood and so on…

This more functional app is simple and easy to use and like many of the others allows you to set your daily intake goal and track it. Each time you grab a glass of water you simply touch the screen to log the intake.

https://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/daily-water-free-water-reminder/id466387763?mt=8

Had enough of App based tools, we found this ground breaking idea from Halo Wearables, take a look online and judge for yourself.

Halo has developed the first ever real-time and non-invasive hydration monitoring technology. Their proprietary solution uses a combination of sensors to track an individual’s hydration at the cellular level. Electrical and optical sensors monitor fluid content and movement in and between both the intravascular and interstitial fluid compartments in the body.

It tells you how and when to optimise your water intake and keep fit.

  • The future is around the corner

Sandia National Laboratories researcher Ronen Polsky and colleagues are patenting a prototype model that can analyze various electrolyte levels on the spot, yet fit in a palm or be worn on a wrist. The device, when commercially available, could decrease the time ordinary citizens, athletes and the military must spend in emergency rooms, lab testing facilities or doctors’ offices.

“This is the future of personalized health care,” said Polsky. “These wearable technologies are just starting to come out in different forms. It’s inevitable that people will go there.”

The device is painless because it employs microneedles so tiny they don’t traumatize nerves when pressed into the skin. It also samples only interstitial fluid — the liquid between skin cells. Thus the device has the potential for long-term, noninvasive use.

This could be the future of hydration monitoring!

https://share.sandia.gov/news/resources/news_releases/electrolyte_sensor/#.V6NkXtIrLIU

  • Back to basics…

Then let’s go back to basics. I know it’s grim, but one of the simplest wasy to monitor your hydration is through toilet trip frequency and the colour of your urine. Healthy and hydrated bodies produce urine that is a light yellow in colour. It also make sense that the more you intake, the more visits to the loo you can expect –  on average 5-8 times per day.

10 Superstars we would Love to Recruit for Our Productivity Team

Posted in Office Motivation on by .

10 Productivity Superstars

10 Productivity Superstars

Here is a list of the 10 Superstars we would Love to Recruit for Our Productivity Team!

  • Jack Dorsey – Founder of Twitter

It was reported that Jack works an 8 hour day. Well, that’s nothing special, I am sure you agree. However, it is the way he plans his working week that is meticulous and makes Jack a high productive businessman.

Jack themes his working week. This allows him to ensure that his time is equally spent across all aspects of running his business. A typical themed week for Jack looks like this:

  • Monday: Management and running the company
  • Tuesday: Product
  • Wednesday: Marketing and communications, growth
  • Thursday: Developers and partnerships
  • Friday: Company culture and recruiting

Source: https://blog.bufferapp.com/the-daily-routines-of-famous-entrepreneurs-and-how-to-design-your-own-master-routine

This highly productive routine is something that I think we can all learn from and could help us all to focus on what is important whilst ensuring nothing is overlooked.

  • Steve Jobs

A productivity list surely could not be complete without one of the world’s most iconic businessmen. Steve Jobs was a true inspiration and was passionate and focused on his company.

Three things we could learn from Steve are:

He would keep all his meetings extremely small , only having the necessary people at the table. This kept the energy and professionalism high and the unnecessary/ unproductive ‘noise’ low

Steve believed in holding people accountable for each agenda item during each meeting. This was mirrored throughout the company and he had processes in place to make sure that everyone knew who was responsible for managing what in each and every department.

He encouraged round-table free thinking rather than allowing people to hide behind power-point slides. Brain storming and passionate conversations meant more to Steve than simply hiding behind technology to present ideas.

  • Carly Fiorina

Carly was the VP running mate for Ted Cruz in the 2016 republican nominations for the US presidential elections. However she came to fame earlier than this when she was the CEO of Hewlett Packard (1999 – 2005), who managed in 2002 the largest (at its time) merger in technology history between HP and Compaq.

http://www.hp.com/hpinfo/execteam/speeches/fiorina/forbes04.html

Here is a little about what Carly says about productivity:

“You have to start thinking about processes as horizontal across the company – a requirement for processes to work together better, for applications to work together better, for systems to work together better, and so it is now all about not just simply automating processes, it’s about digitizing processes, making them simpler and easier to manage”

  • Richard Branson

Richard Branson is possibly one of the UK’s and the world’s most charismatic business men. He is a serial entrepreneur and certainly has a few things to teach us about productivity. Two tips he has to offer are simple and lay the ground rules for a productive session.

  1. Exercise – work out and feel empowered, exercise energises you and sets you up for the day
  2. “Whether it is a meeting, a flight, an appointment or a date, ensure you are there when you say you will be there. This may feel like an old-fashioned tip to give, but it has served me well for five decades in business.” Richard Branson https://www.virgin.com/richard-branson/how-to-increase-your-productivity
  • Karren Brady

Karren Brady is an exceptional businesswoman. She is the former managing director of Birmingham City F.C. and Karren is currently the vice-chairman of the London Based West Ham United Football Club. Known for her business prowess she was appointed Business Ambassador to the UK government and even has a spot on the BBC1 Apprentice show, as an aide to Lord Sugar.

Karren ‘s tip is don’t be overly emotional
http://www.mildredtalabi.com/karren-brady-strong-woman/

“Karren is not advising being cold and harsh in your dealings with people, but to rein in the emotions and be as straight-talking and direct as possible: “It’s about being clear, precise and operationally succinct. Everyone should know in which direction they are going, who is doing what and why.”

  • Michael Phelps

Serial Olympic Gold Medal winner Michael Phelps knows all about how to be productive, his whole daily routine as a sportsman is designed around making the most out of his training, ensuring he eats the right food at the right time and so on.

Unsurprisingly, he sets goals. Every morning he will set himself the days objectives, intentions of the day, feelings about the goals and how it would feel to achieve them. It is this type of sel-help and planning that focuses the mind on what is important, what needs to be achieved, how it will be achieved and what it will feel like to achieve it.  No wonder he has 18 Gold medals.

Sometimes we all need a little inspiration to be productive and to achieve our goals. If you have not read Wilma’s story then I suggest you take a minute and read it on Wikipedia. Here is an extract.

“Wilma contracted infantile paralysis (caused by the polio virus) at age four. She recovered, but wore a brace on her left leg and foot (which had become twisted as a result) until she was nine. She was required to wear an orthopedic shoe for support of her foot for another two years….

Fast forward:

“In the 1960 Summer Olympics in Rome, Rudolph became the first American woman to win three gold medals in track and field during a single Olympic Games.  A track and field champion, she elevated women’s track to a major presence in the United States. As a member of the black community, she is also regarded as a civil rights and women’s rights pioneer. “

  • Henry Ford

Henry Ford decided that he was going to produce an affordable car for the masses,  his achievement and  use of mass production strategies to manufacture his famous Model T revolutionised industrial manufacturing and provided many lessons in productivity that are still used today. His manufacturing process was all about focus, time management, direction and confidence.

  • Benjamin Franklin

An odd one I know, but Benjamin Franklin was one of the key founding fathers of the United States and around 9pm every day he would consider his day and ask himself ”what good have I done today?”

By recapping the day’s events and activities he was able to prioritise and set a road-map for the next 24hours, focusing on what is important and what to deliver on a daily basis. He analysed his progress and knew what important tasks to complete where and by when.

  • You!

I hope that this has inspired you a little and now that you have read this and seen how you can become more productive at work and in your life, make sure that you learn from these exceptionally productive superstars and really put these tools into action. Make a difference in your life and work now and become the next Productivity Superstar we write about!
